That is quite a blast and very very true too.
I have been saying the same thing since the very first NRI convention on December 30, 2000. At one point Rene Baretto wanted to hand-over the NRIs in the hands of RSS Nitin Kukolienkar, the BJP's poster boy at GCCI, which I averted. And what you have said is true. At the mention of the name Goa Su-Raj, it would seem that the skies will fall. Most of our prominent Goans in Goa have an ego problem. If they haven't had a hand in floating the organization, it stinks to high heavens and must not be touched. Most of the organizations in Goa will not be able to come close to a mile of Goa Environmental Action Group and Goa Su-Raj Party which I have a hand in putting together. Now it is PPS. But then we are not crowing from the tallest haystack.
Agnelo, thank you for your effort. But not to be pessimistic, not much will come of it, though I would want to bleed myself dry in making it a success. There is a sort of a curse that Goans cannot unite. I have tried hard to get that curse neutralized. But I have not been successful. Look at your name sake, Agnelo Gomes of NJ USA. He could have done wonders and he is a good man. But ego runs a mile ahead of him. He will not want to listen to others "Apnachench Tembdem"
I have just come home pasting PPS stickers all over Mapusa. I have done the same to the Mandovi Bridges (from Majestic hotel to Panjim bus terminus) previous Sunday.
I feel it in my bones that PPS should be the uniting factor for Goans. So please support it to the hilt and coax Goans of every persuasion to do the same. I have already spoken to Caesar Menezes to sponsor PPS hoardings along the National Highway as also to sponsor the very first PPS convention (in Margao). I believe that any movement to succeed, it must be visible. I intend making PPS visible from Pernem to Canacona. PPS stickers are on the way to Margao, Poinguinim and are already in Aldona and Calangute. The size of each sticker is 6 x 6 cms. People must live with the movement on every day basis and get it in their blood system. Then they can be chanelized for the right thing in the right manner at the right time.
Frankly speaking, I have reason to believe that the political mafia in Goa is already worried about PPS. I am waiting for its first move to clamp down on it which is sure to come, sooner than later on one pretext or the other.
Well, Agnelo, do keep up the good work.
You can count on my support to stich this elusive Goan Unity together.
I would want nothing more than this.
It can be done. Provided all goans are brought together under one banner for just one item of Agenda.
This banner could be PPS and the Agenda 'Political Sanity for Goa'
To be fair, let the best among Congress/BJP/NCP/MGP/UGDP/GSRP et al be selected by PPS and have it seated on the throne and allowed to work ( really work) for GOA and GOANS.

Dear Sisters and Brothers,
There are many GOAN forums in operation all over the world. Some are active and some inactive. I call active for those who are ACTIVE for Goan social, economic, political and environment cause and INACTIVE for those that are only for networking and social entertainment.
We all have voices, some loud and some not so loud. But if we all speak in one voice these will be loud enough to be heard by the political leaders who Goan electorate (not NRG’s) have entrusted to lead. I feel it is not good enough for us to cry and moan for every bad decision taken by Goa’s political masters. What are we (NRG’s) doing to help improve the situation?
The time is running out. GOA is bleeding all over not just the costal areas but also in the hinterlands. Forest cover has vanished by 15-20% over the last 10 years due to heavy mining activities. The politicians are running organ trading with pure greed for money. It’s like organs from the body are removed and sold to highest bidder without any concern to the victim, nobody cares if the victim will survive or die. What are we going to leave for our future generation? A dead body to venerate? Goa was granted Statehood to make it an ideal governance state but it is now made an ideal corruption state. Stop Think Act and the time is now or NEVER!
In my opinion we need to adopt multiple strategies to make our dreams come true (to make Goa, real GOA i.e Greatest Of All). And to achieve these goals, I reckon we need:
1) Strong NGO without any political party affiliation.
2) Alternative Indigenous Goan political party, as all current parties have failed to deliver.
3) A vibrant NRG group.
We already have Goa Bachao Abiyan under whose all other Village Action Group must work in tandem. As these are grass root organization their support is essential for mobilisation of voters to vote for right candidates.
We have Goa SuRaj, Party some 10 years old but no voter base, which we need to support to expand it voter base politician as the current political parties have failed to deliver. I am aware many will dis-agree with me but we need fresh people with fresh ideas.
All NRG’s must come under one NRG group. We could have 2-3 active members each from Canada, USA, UK, Germany, Australia, Africa, New Zealand, Pakistan and Arabian Gulf States ETC. NRG must take the take the responsibility of acting as a pressure group at world events, funding NGO’s, Funding Media publicity ETC. It is imperative that we work as COLLECTIVE LEADERS rather than INDIVIDUAL LEADERS. My humble request to all: stop washing dirty linen in public. Stop pointing figures at others on open net forums. Appreciate other person’s strength and work on your weakness. Many of us belittle our fellow Goan Bothers. We bound to have opinion diversity but that does give us the right to ridicule others. Many of our Goan brothers are blessed with wealth, knowledge and leadership qualities. It’s pay back time to the land of our ancestors. What does matter is QUALITY not QUANTITY.
Lastly, Global Goan Convention is good platform but only if it is used for the betterment of Global Goans and not just for networking. It will worth having it in Goa, the place from where we all come from. This will give us additional opportunity to visit the land of our fore-fathers and it will deny Goan politician a free holiday at the cost of Goan Tax Payers.
