Dear Oscar and others.
I missed out on this FF thread. Am happy to read thro' your post and it invigorates me to write because FF movement of Goa is at my heart.
1. Jose Francisco Martins, one of the genuine FF, with tears in in eyes, wished he had the strength in his aging body to fight the bleedy Indians and bring back the Portuguese. This was after the Goa Police humiliated him by hauling him to the police station in the middle of the night with only his underwear on. I have personally interviewed him before he breathed his last. If any FF wants to challenge me on this, they are welcome.
2. Naguesh Karmali - I have personally insulted him publicly at the TB Cunha hall, Panjim during the meet which was discussing the genesis of the Curchorem - Savordem riots ( the first in Goa). One of the challenges I threw at the public from the podium was that Naguesh Karmali should be thrown out as the director of TB Cunha Trust because he is a blot on TB Cunha's face, a bigoted RSS and a hypocrite who waited for 43 years to pull down the Portuguese name plaques and road signs in Fontainhas, Panjim in a riot like situation along with the RSS and Hindutva thugs. No courage here as a FF like what we are told. He wanted to have the force of the goon RSS BJP to do that. BTW Naguesh Karmali was present at the meet but chose to remain silent.
3. Sinari happens to be one of the genuine FFs. However, the onus is on these genuine FFs to weed-out the fakes who are entering the list even to this day. Then and only then Goa will respect Goa's genuine FFs.
4. FFs in general have failed Goa., whether they are genuine or fake. Like you say, they have only been looking for their benefits - Goa be damned.
5. Goa Su-Raj Party has vowed to dismantle this FF tamasha once and for all. Let those who survive weep for their folly for sitting tight and watching the fun of Goa being raped while they and their kin got their dole.
6. With due respect to Sinari, this is the scene in Goa today. A time will come that even a stray dog will not pee on the FFs of Goa.

Areh Baba Mr. Sinari!
Please forgive me and some of us who are still unaware about the sacrifices the “Freedom Fighters” and tell us what they had to go through prior to 19 December 1961! Please do me a favour.
For your sake and for all those who could not see the future after 19 December 1961, can you please inform us the role played by the Freedom Fighters (FF’s) and what have they been doing for Goa so far?
This will be an educational process for me and few others.
For your sake again let us say there was a group of Goans be it Hindus and/or Catholics - who detested Portuguese rule. What were the specific goals of those Freedom Fighters apart from ensuring that they would be
well looked after by means of dole (free maintenance from the Government of India) for them and their families. What was their justification – presumably your family was amongst them.
I lived in Goa from birth to 1968 and most of my colleagues were Hindus and Catholics. Not a day on school grounds, in parties and on picnics did they express their parent’s disgust about the Portuguese rule.
Many of our Hindu bretheren who learned to speak and write Portuguese had jobs in government offices and Banks even cobblers who had their own shops! Those who did not bother to learn the language
ran to Mumbai and other parts of India from where the bollywood depicted Goans as drunk people in Hindi movies – their limited experience of Goans at aunty’s house.
When I visited Goa for my first holidays from overseas in 1974 I met up with my friends who were running their family Gold shops in Mapusa. In our conversation I asked them if they were happy with their
dream of Goan being now under India’s rule - to which they answered “ Baba Oscar amchem Portuguese ghelle ane amchea possrear copper anee silver viktat!
When I went again for my second visit in 1978, many of the children and families of the so called “Freedom Fighters” where applying for Portuguese Citizenship and as we speak they are on waiting list for the
processing of their application. Should they not be in Goa to look after the state which they fought for Portuguese to leave?
Mr. Sinari how can you explain the change in heart of the FF’s and what role have they played in Goa’s progress since 19 December 1961. It is not late for them to realise and put up a delegation as FF’s to
the government that they do not like what is happening to Goa.
Your elucidation on the role of FF’s role will stop people sitting at a computer and dismissing the sacrifice of Freedom Fighters as Fake and Funkott!
We need the Freedom Fighters to put up the same fight with the same enthusiasm to get Goa out of the present rut – They still have time to clear their conscience.
Thank you.
Oscar C. Lobo.
