Why are we so worried about this harmless word (poltodicho) when there is another silly word which has no hiistorical roots nor is descriptive of our goan ethos and make intelligent goans look like ignorant fools when that word comes out of their mouths. That word has done more damage to goan unity than the present word in question. That word? "PANAJI"
Isn't it time too change that to Pon'je or even Panjim?

Our disagreement with the supposedly Konkani word 'Paltadacho' meaning 'Poltodcho or Poltodicho' has created a lot of angst on the internet. As a result, the one person who disagreed with us is Ms. Devika Sequeira, Bureau Chief of Deccan Herald. Her contention is that we are taking to heart these minor aberrations when we fail to acknowledge the better good the movie is doing or has done. Our contention is that the same movie would be 100 per cent more appreciated if this foreign word was not substituted for the actual vocabulary word in Konkani to mean 'the man across the bridge' which is 'poltodcho or poltodicho munis' There has been other names for Konkani movies especially the 'Buimearantlo Munis' [ a man from the cave] which name the Goan people have related very much to the movie on hand.
This controversy has resulted in very nasty exchanges of emails in private between yours sincerely and Ms. Devika Sequeira. However, what we would like to point out to Ms. Sequeira is this:
'WRITING' and living 'OFF IT' is one thing and,
'WRITING' and living ' IT ' is another thing altogether.
As far as we are concerned, we have always tried to do the later.
