Dear Kewin,
Just try to understand the logic behind my press note about boycott of the film.
I have been particularly proud of the film since it got the international award at Toronto. However, I have been against the word 'Paltadacho' which has no relevance to the Konkani vocabulary meaning 'Poltodcho' or 'Paltodcho' or Paltodicho etc. Ordinary Goan does not know the meaning of the title, hence he cannot be proud of the award winning Konkani film. Even after so many alerts, the director/film producer has not given out the corrigendum, at least in Goa to say that the Konkani title is not "Paltadacho Munis" but "Poltodcho/Paltodcho/Paltodicho Munis"
I have been particularly flinging the word 'PALTADACHO' with a lot of Goans here, and their reaction is one of being confused, not being able to put a handle on the word. When I say 'Poltodcho' , they smile.
Konkani has been belittled much too often and Goans are denied the 'GLOWING IN PRIDE' of such rare world acceptance of the film in their mother tongue because some arse-hole named it PALTADACHO Munis which none can understand what it means.
Once again, let me say that I am yet to see the movie but I am very sure I will enjoy the same having enjoyed the reviews. But my heart will not be there to enjoy it to the fullest extent because the title itself is foreign to me.
Somebody has to speak for KONKANI and I am happy that I am the one, in this case. I always have.
Cheers floriano goasuraj
PS: I was a avid reader of Konkani Romances written by such like Reginald Fernandes & others, when I was a school kid. My mother once tore the novel as I was reading it, because she saw the folded page announce the chapter 'GUPIT CAZAR' and she thought I was reading porn. :-))

Dear Floriano,
I enjoyed this movie when it was featured at the Toronto International Film Festival and had a chance to meet the director, Shetgaonkar.
I am dismayed that you are recommending a boycott of this internationally acclaimed film based on the usage of Konkani word(s). I was happy that the film (including the title) had English subtitles. It carries a message that trancends linguistic, cultural and geographical borders.
