\'Govt doing nothing to promote IT industries\'
Herald Correspondent
Porvorim Sept. 4

Continuing his tirade against the State Government, Aldona MLA Dayanand Narvekar said though information technology can provide environment friendly jobs to thousands in the State, the government is doing nothing to promote IT industries.

He was addressing a gathering after inaugurating the \'Youth Force of Goa\' (YFG) at the Goa Cricket Academy in Porvorim on Saturday.

In 1980 when I was the labour minister, the government had taken a decision to provide one job in a family, but this policy was not followed strictly.\' said Narvekar.

He also took a dig at the government for being biased in employing people in the State.

In the health department alone, 1000 people have been employed and over 60% of these people are from one constituency. The government should not do such injustice to the people of Goa.\' he added.

Narvekar also accused the government of subsidizing the mining industry even though that they hardly got any revenue from the mining companies.

The annual revenue of the mining sector is around Rs. 6000 crore. Till last year, the government used to get around Rs 30 crore by way of royalty on iron ore, said the Congress MLA from Aldona.

Since the Central government has now increased the royalty to Rs. 150 per tonne, the government will now get revenue of Rs. 300-400 crore.

The government spends a lot on maintaining roads in mining areas. The government in fact is subsidizing the mining industry. Mining has done more harm than good to the people of Goa. Most people residing in mining areas are suffering from tuberculosis and other related diseases, said Narvekar.

In his welcome speech, YFG President O. D\'Cunha said the main objectives of YFC is to demand financial assistance to the unemployed youth and one government job per family.

We will also demand 75% employment for Goans in each industry. Besides we will organize programmes and events for youth, children and the aged, D\'Cunha said.

Edwin Fernandes , Floyd Vales and Zico Rodrigues also spoke on the occasion.

Other committee members of the YFG are Narayan Mandrekar, Naresh Gawas and Nilesh D\'Souza ( Vice Presidents), Edwin Fernandes (General Secretary), Laurence Lobo (Organizing Secretary), Nazima Sheik (Treasurer) and Floyd Vales (Spokesperson)

COMMENTS

On the surface, this looks like the most acceptable \'goacentric\' news item. But coming from a crook and the scamster that Dayanand Narvekar is, these gullible Goan youths must first understand the motives behind this YFG formation by this man to fight his own government. The first question these gullible youths must ask of this scamster is Why are you still with the government that does not perform? The second question that should follow the first is If you were the Minister (any minister of rank), would you criticize the government on unemployment of Goan youth?

The gullible youth must also dig some past history of this \'crook\' and the \'scamster\' ( ODI ticketgate notwithstanding). He is the guy who brought in the polluting \'Binani\' to Colvale, by promising jobs to the locals. They should ask him as to how many locals are or were employed in Binani and if so how much they had to shell out for his pocket. This is the guy who stage-managed the Sarpanch of Colvale, the now Minister for Tourism Mr. Nilkant Halankar, by seeing to it that he acceded to his demands to give clearance to Binani on deeming provisions, after he had him tied to a jeep and dragged-scaled him to kingdom come. Nilkant Halankar is grateful to this crook for being alive. He cannot be but a zombie who will say \'yes sir\' to this crook even in his dreams. I have a great deal of respect for Nilkant as a friend, but history is history.

The other questions that should be asked are:-

1. Why 75 % of the jobs for Goans when it is supposed to be 80%.? That means, the youth are giving this crook the cream of 5% to extort from the outsiders?
2. If Narvekar\'s own government is not performing, why does he not resign?
3. Is he going to contest from Porvorim, the now carved new constituency? [ with the blessings of his in-law Manohar Parrikar of the BJP/]
4. If he was the Minister for mining, would he care for the people who are suffering fromtuberculosis? Or would he collect the royalties himself like he did when he
was the TCP Minister with the \'stilt parking\' scare for Panjim??? when every builder worth his salt ran to him with sackful of currency notes not to implement this
scheme?. He should also be asked as to how it is that he converted the 4-Pillars- Santacruz \'salt pans\' to settlement??? where I had to defeat the Hara
Project through a suo-moto PIL in the High Court??
& last but not the least
5. How come the INFOTECH ASPIRATIONS of Goa went to dogs when he was the Incharge? Did he not allocate lucrative plots to his own sister with dubious call
center experience?

In short, the gullible youth must realize that they need to investigate the motives of crooks, and scamsters before they succumb, lest they do terrible injustice to other staunchly non-gullible youth who want what they deserve by right for being Goans. Persons like Dayanand Narvekar will even stoop so low as to sell his own wife if he can make money of GOA?

It is possible that this scamster has gotten hold of a few gullible youths and brainwashed them to be on stage with him by dazzling them with some goodies like he did to the parish priests of Aldona (Sentro cars and mobile phones) to promote his prospects for the 2007 elections. It must be remembered that these parish priests even went to the extent of felicitating this scamster after the election, to show how much hold he had on them. It is imperative for him to win the 2012 elections and therefore he is investing in advance.

TRUE GOANS BEWARE

PS: If anyone is interested, I have the file of the owners of the property wherein lies his bungalow at Mapusa where this crook has taken the old couple for a jolly good ride of depriving them of their own property just because they engaged this crook as their lawyer to do the inventory proceedings of the property. Such crooks should be hanged from the highest tree, nothing less.
